Spring/Summer Tournaments





Dear League Secretary – please note the following FA Statement and wherever possible please forward to your Clubs.

We will also reinforce this message via changes to out Tournament Sanction Forms and also publicise on our website and via our communication network.


In essence the FA is stating that permission is granted for Tournaments/Festivals etc to host knock out competitive formats for the age groups U7 to U10 whereas in the past these have only been limited to fun festivals only – this option however still remains.

Further to several queries with regards to FA Rule 4A (iii), linked to competition formats for young players in the U7 to U10 age groups, questions have arisen about the summer tournaments organised by grassroots clubs and commercial companies.


The query relates to whether these events can be run as a competition, for a trophy, with a published winner.


The FA Rule states that leagues can organise a maximum of three trophy events during the season, lasting a variety of different weeks according to age. The ‘league season’ in youth football typically runs from September to April/May and then there is a period of about 8 weeks that grassroots clubs and companies run tournaments, often with the purpose of generating income to fund the following season. These one-day club events are usually separate sanctioned events, via Form D, at the County FA.


Therefore, these one-day club/commercial events can be run for a trophy with a published winner, at all ages, if the organising club/company chooses to operate in this way. However, if they choose to run the younger age groups in a festival format this is permissible. 


We will continue to monitor the impact of these events, when run as a trophy competition, to ascertain whether this method is in the best interests of the young person participating and player development.

Following another great tournament last year we are pleased to announce the date for our `7 a side football festival `

Played on excellent pitches set in the picturesque Staffordshire Countryside. Only 5 minutes from junction 12 of the M6

Ample free parking.

7s, 9s and 11s play in morning session.
8s, 10s, and 12s play in the afternoon session.
Ages as per 2013/14 season

Only 30 per team.

Player trophies for winners and runners up and winning team trophies for all ages.

WYRLEY SEVENS - 17th annual tournament June 7th & 8th

 Wyrley Juniors FC 17th annual tournament takes place on 7th and 8th June this year and we would like you to be there.

 The event will have 168 teams at age groups U6s to U16s boys and U8s to U18s girls, making it the largest sporting event in the Chase are and recognised as one of the best organised.

 As usual we will have the following in place:- 

  • ample off-road car parking
  • qualified referees
  • professional first aiders
  • hot and cold food
  • hot and cold drinks
  • licensed bar adjacent to the site
  • replica kit stall
  • professional photographers
  • numerous other stalls

 Please also note that Staffs FA have granted our tournament of a competitive tournament at ALL ages. There will therefore be quarter finals, semi-finals, finals and trophies at all age groups!!

 We would like your team to take part - please see attached our application for completion and return as soon as possible.

Grassroots Trophy Event 2014



We would like to invite you to participate in our TROPHY EVENT to be held at -  
Bilbrook Junior Football Club, Wobaston Road, Pendeford, Wolverhampton. WV9 5HQ

Competitions will be held for Age groups under 6’s, 7’s, 8’s, 9’S, 10’S & 11’S


Teams should be entering for the age group they have just played, in the 2013/2014 season


The cost of Entry will be 25.00 per team, with a maximum of 
UNDER U6’S & 7’S - 10 players per team (5 a-side)
UNDER 8’s & 9’s – 14 players per team (7 a-side)
UNDER 10’s & 11’S – 14 players per team (9 a-side)

U6 will be a non-competitive and each player will receive an award.

Spectator Admission on Tournament day will be 2 per car to include entry (safe parking).  Programmes will also be available at the entrance at a price of 1 (includes Team Photo)


There will be hot & cold refreshments available on the day as well as other attractions such as inflatable’s for the children to ensure an enjoyable day out.


There will also be a professional photographer which will take pictures of the team as a group & individually which can be purchased on the day.
